Quote a Board
Since circuit boards are a complex item, we have a few guidelines for submittal to make sure we meet your requirements:

We need

  • A complete bill of materials, preferably in Excel, that lists all parts approved and substitutions.
  • A sample board is a nice additional item if you can provide one. If not, gerber files of the board are sufficient.
  • Testing procedures if we are doing any functional testing.
  • For EPROMs, the program to load, or whether you will be doing that portion of the labor.
  • Pick and place centroid data will be needed, locating the center position of each component and fiducial and component body type.
  • Origin reference needs to be from the lower right hand corner of the board, and units need to be in millimeters. If in doubt as to what corner will end up being the origin reference for coordinates, please send us a copy of the artwork.
  • Coordinate points must be identified by component reference (R4, U12, J7, etc.). Multi-board panels must include centroid data for the board in the origin reference corner, PLUS a reference point for each additional board in the panel. Centroid data may be sent electronically in Excel.
  • Circuit boards must have fiducials (3 minimum), and fiducial coordinates must be included in pick and place centroid data. NOTE: boards with SMT components on both sides need fiducials on both sides of the board.
  • If we are ordering a stencil for solder paste printing, (this is usually the case) a complete set of gerber files for the bare circuit board.
  • The Bill of Materials and Pick & Place files are required for each project.  If programming is being done, we will need a programmer, and the appropriate test fixture.
  • Other Important Notes

Please understand that quick-turn quotes are not representative of the absolute best pricing that can be accomplished. Generally, for boards we try to get the best pricing from various suppliers, so it can take up to 3 weeks.  We can provide a quick quote much faster than that, but the pricing will not be your absolute lowest.

Most importantly, for all production: We absolutely need an engineering technical contact in addition to a purchaser or a buyer.  This is for technical questions as they arise. This applies to every service from sheet metal design to SMT production.
