Powder coating is actually less expensive than regular paint.  Since the cost varies based on the item size and condition, we can only quote a job after seeing the item.  Other factors can add to the cost, such as extensive masking of areas not to be coated or a really dirty item that needs heavy degreasing. 

To economize cost, be sure your part is clean and free of greases or oils.   The less prep work we have to do, the lower your costs will be.
